When a child is between the ages of 2 and 5, every experience is a learning opportunity. Like little sponges, they soak up everything around them. It creates opportunities to lay an educational foundation that prepares children for future learning. Every time they sing the alphabet or count to 10, they are picking up on basic skills and concepts. Every time they hear a Bible story, they are being introduced to foundational Christian values.

Ages and Stages

One way to define preschool is any type of structured learning before the 1st grade. This includes 2-year-olds, 3-year olds, K4, and K5.

2- and 3-Year Olds 

We recognize the differences in cognitive and motor-skill development between 2- and 3-year-olds, which is why we offer separate programs for each age group. Children are introduced to foundational academic concepts such as phonics, numbers, art, and the Bible with the help of Amber Lamb and Button Bear. Flashcards, coloring sheets, and songs are used together in a variety of ways to help these little minds learn. They’ll begin to recognize letter sounds and shapes, learn phonics and number concepts, practice listening skills and hand-eye coordination, develop early writing skills, and find out how to be kind, love God, share, obey, tell the truth, and be helpers.

K4 and K5 (Kindergarten)

Our K4 curriculum and K5 curriculum cover similar concepts and skills, but, like our curricula for 2- and 3-year-olds, we treat them as two distinct, age-appropriate programs. The Abeka preschool program for K4 serves as a bridge between a preschool experience and kindergarten, while our K5 program prepares 5-year-olds for a life of learning. 

Our kindergarten curriculum gives students a solid foundation of basic skills through a balanced academic program that takes every facet of development into account and covers the basic subjects. Students will be exposed to Language Arts (phonics, reading, and writing), Numbers, Science & Health, Social Studies, Fine Arts, and Bible.

Age Appropriate 

Abeka is an age-appropriate curriculum for preschool that takes into consideration the differences in motor skills and cognitive abilities among preschoolers, which is why our curriculum is broken up into 2-year-old, 3-year-old, K4, K5 programs. With Abeka, they’ll experience early success at realistic learning milestones.

For example, our Readiness Skills book for K4 students builds on what they’ve been learning and reinforces some basic kindergarten concepts including the different colors, animals, shapes, and familiar places to help them prepare for moving on to K5.
