Nativity Suncatcher

Abeka Craft

Use contact paper, tissue paper shapes, and construction paper to create an easy suncatcher. Create a Nativity shaped frame out of popsicle sticks to go over the suncatcher and hang in a window or use as an ornament.

Materials

  • Popsicle sticks
  • Black paint
  • Brush
  • Tissue paper
  • Contact paper
  • Black construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun
  • Permanent marker or pen
  • String

Steps

Step 1: Attach the popsicle sticks with hot glue to create a Nativity shape.

Step 2: Paint 5 popsicle sticks black; Let dry.

Step 3: Trace the Nativity shape with pen onto a piece of contact paper and cut out the shape.

Step 4: Cut the tissue paper into squares.

Step 5: Peel off the contact paper backing and stick the tissue paper shapes onto the sticky side.

Step 6: Draw and cut out an image, such as a star, with black construction paper. Place it on top of the tissue paper.

Step 7: Cut another piece of contact paper. Peel off the backing and stick it to the contact paper with the tissue paper. Smooth it out and trim along the traced line.

Step 8: Hot glue the contact paper to the back of the popsicle stick frame.*

Step 9: Cut a piece of string and hot glue it in a loop to the back of the frame.
