My daughter was adopted from Hungary when she was three. Right before she turned five I collapsed from a brain tumor. She spent the next year in foster care as I recovered. She was promoted because they couldn’t fail her twice. She was finally able to come home for 1st grade, where she was tested by our school, and she was barely kindergarten level. I struggled with seizures and my meds most of the year, and I was not able to help her much until the 3rd quarter. Now we were off and running. She attended regular school, which she barely made any improvements during the year. I decided to enroll her in the 1st grade video ABEKA program, and we did about 3-4 lessons a week. Within the first month the school said she went from 9 words a minute to 14 words a minute. Her math skills more than doubled. Unfortunately, she has been retained again. Now that school is over, we can do ABEKA full time! She has just completed her first book! It will take us about 3 years to get her caught up but she is beaming with pride that she is finally getting it. I used ABEKA with my older adult children through 6th grade. Hopefully, ABEKA upgrades their curriculum for the computer age starting in middle school. I LOVE their elementary program. All the other kids aren’t taught cursive. My child has beautiful handwriting, the school couldn’t believe how well the work was done for me, but her elementary teacher got poor work from her. As her confidence rose her teacher got to see her excellent work. This child is going to shine, thanks to ABEKA’s help! Read LessRead less about My daughter was adopted from Hungary
